I had a good weekend.

I had a fantastic weekend, actually, due to good weather and good friends. I went to the New York City area, where I was made welcome by [livejournal.com profile] shirei_shibolim and [livejournal.com profile] terriqat, [livejournal.com profile] taylweaver, [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and [livejournal.com profile] sdelmonte, and [livejournal.com profile] flintknappy and her family. I saw [livejournal.com profile] nuqotw for the first time in years, over an amazing all-yellow Shabbos dinner cooked by [livejournal.com profile] shirei_shibolim. Other memorable food moments involved Batya's Igor Bars and peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-things I made with [livejournal.com profile] flintknappy and her sister.

I finally met quite a number of lovely people, including (insert deep breath here) [livejournal.com profile] genarti, [livejournal.com profile] agonistes, [livejournal.com profile] silveraspen, [livejournal.com profile] varadia, [livejournal.com profile] shati, [livejournal.com profile] bookelfe, [livejournal.com profile] phoenixchilde, [livejournal.com profile] neenie, [livejournal.com profile] gao and his wife. I also saw [livejournal.com profile] avarielwings for the first time since I went to England last summer. I do wish I'd had more time to spend with the crowd, but at least I have video evidence of wonderful crazy people doing a cappella "Breakfast at Tiffany's" filk with jazz hands at the corner of Forty-seventh and Second.

I can happily report that Central Park is still Central Park, even if the south end of it seems to be taken up by fences and bulldozers. Further north there are paths, trees, and plenty of benches in which one can sit and watch the passing strollers, dogs and lovers that usually inhabit the park on a Sunday morning. The Lincoln Center Barnes and Noble is still the Lincoln Center Barnes and Noble, although I'm less impressed by it now that I spend most of my time in a town with vast independent bookstores in short walking distance. I still haven't gotten to the Strand, alas.

Somehow I survived a weekend of public transit and solitary travel without ever getting lost, missing a train, missing a stop, or having any sort of transportation difficulty. I do not know how this happened. I think I brought everything home I took with me, also amazingly ... but I accidentally absconded with one of [livejournal.com profile] terriqat's scarves. Sorry, Terri. How can I get that back to you?
