General update; yes, I'm still alive
Jul. 29th, 2004 12:25 amFirst, I have to credit
dementia42 for this wonderful icon. My favorite scene, from my favorite movie, as recreated in my favorite lego animation, has been iconified. This makes me happy.
Those of you interested in bizarre religious artifacts, specifically bizarre Jewish religious artifacts, might like to see this pop-up sukkah. A sukkah is a kind of hut in which Jews eat (and sometimes sleep) during the autumn harvest festival Sukkot. This one is both smaller than almost every other sukkah, and it, well, pops up.
shirei_shibolim and
fleurdelis28, especially, must see the demonstration video in which the sukkah is tossed around and inflates in slow motion in rather the manner of a Hoberman Sphere. The cheesy filmstrip narration and music in the background are nice touches, I feel.
There's a very interesting discussion of the history of fanfiction, in which discussion I've been taking an active role, over at
juice817's journal.
prosewitch, you might be especially interested, because the author of the article wants to use folklore theory to analyze fanfic and its purposes.
King Arthur is an absolute travesty of a movie, and I have a draft of a review for it sitting around my room somewhere. It will be forthcoming.
I have not yet moved to my beautiful future apartment; it is awaiting furniture. If any of you happen to know anyone with spare furniture in the general vicinity of San Francisco's East Bay, do let me know.
( If you're not following Milliways, you won't be interested in the overeducated apples behind the cut-tag. )
