Lois Bujold, Cryoburn

The e-ARC (downloadable advance reader copy) of Lois McMaster Bujold's new Miles Vorkosigan novel, Cryoburn, is available for $15 at Webscriptions. I was going to wait, but cerusee convinced me that I wanted to read the book at once.

Fanfiction flourishes when the original text provides issues to discuss, gaps to fill and problems to fix. I predict that there will be a very great deal of fanfiction written about Cryoburn.

I think my review came out unduly harsh. I did enjoy the book. I am still thinking about it carefully, a day later. I am not usually a Vorkosigan ficcer but I have multiple fic ideas in my head from it. It's just that there are a lot, a lot, of ways Cryoburn could be a different book, and the idea of writing the alternate Cryoburns is going to be a temptation for everyone.
