In between the Heroes posts I've been attempting to ignore, LJ has provided me with some wonderful reading material in the last few days. Some things I am delighted to have found on my friendslist:

artaxastra, herself a valiant woman who no longer identifies with princesses and warrior maidens, suggested an archetype for mature women of power.

lnhammer shared metamorphosing Metamorphoses.

irisbleu wrote a lovely series of drabbles (short fanfics), including one on Gawain and the Green Knight (for me!) and another on the Chanson de Roland (for azureflight, but originally requested by me!) Also in the fanfic department, the yuletide daily feed linked to "Envious Angels" by carenejeans, which reimagines Poe's Annabel Lee as a female-female love story.

What other beautiful distractions have you all found lately?

Sadly, only distractions in the forms of books, so I can only share titles. However, I am running through your links and they are ever, ever so cool. So, thank you!

Hmm.. after reading the archetype one, all i have to say is.. what is wrong with chastity?!

I'm a warrior maiden for life, dammit, even if I do have kids. ;)
