For no particular reason, I felt like examining the Pairing List That Ate Fandom. Do not click there unless you want to see suggestions for couples that should never, ever, ever happen.....

with one, single exception,
29. Nurse (Romeo + Juliet)/Merriman (The Dark Is Rising).

That, folks, could work, and if anyone can write it, it's someone on my friendslist.

Also, the following actual and deeply bizarre incident has an obvious explanation to anyone who's been watching Dark is Rising plot at Milliways this week:

VW Polo: Small but tough.

....

I have no words. For either of them.

That list is both incredibly amusing and incredibly disturbing. Wow.

"201. The Soup Nazi (Seinfeld)/Gordie (Stand By Me)"
Now, I've neither read nor seen either of these, but I've heard of the former, I think, and my at my father's work, the cook for several of the programs (these are mostly residential programs for kids in assorted sorts of trouble, fairly loosely defined) was a guy named something very similar to Gordie who was a horror in the kitchen- no flavorings and he smoked and the kitchen was a mess. Am I right on that this would have been a nasty combination?

I'm torn between running away screaming and trying to figure out if I can write it.

Also, clearly the Rider has a grudge. *just stares*

See, we knew there was a reason the Polo was the car of Evil.

I'm sorry, I should not have provided the opportunity for so much brain damage.

Hello, by the way.

I haven't the slightest idea who either of them are, but I'm sure there is nastiness involved.

I did not write the list.

Well, the pairing broke my brain, for a start. ^_^ The VW Polo advert just made me feel ill.

Dredging up my meagre Seinfeld knowledge....

The Soup Nazi from Seinfeld was supposedly based on a real-life restaurant owner in Manhattan. His soup was legendarily good, but you had to queue for it and humbly accept what he gave you -- without a word, without question. If you complained or asked for a different kind of soup or so much as looked at him wrong, he'd shriek out 'NO SOUP FOR YOU!' and you'd never be allowed to eat in the restaurant again.

So, yes, a nasty combination with those two.

Write it, do, because I think Merriman would inflict severe pain on me if I even sat down to seriously consider the possibility. ^_^

Basil (The Picture of Dorian Gray)/Socrates (Plato's Republic)

...

Errol the dragon/Erik the Phantom

...

Those are all so disturbing. What's more disturbing was finding myself saying "Well, they're both in Milliways, so it might be possible."

However, the thing about the Polo was definitely amusing. I've not seen the commercial, but I have seen the one where the cat's head was cut off by the sunroof.

The pairing list is very, very odd.

And the Polo ... well, it explains a lot, really. ;)
