I just removed an eldritch horror from the bathroom sink, using only a pine branch, a chopstick, and two rubber gloves.

I'd tried Drāno first, but three applications of nasty poisonous chemicals failed to remove the intruder, so (at my roommate's suggestion) I delved into the deep with pointy sticks. (Thank God for the rubber gloves, because I did not want to touch those pointy sticks after long!) The pine branch (chosen because I could throw it away once I was done) proved rather too bendy to serve the purpose, so roommate sacrificed a chopstick to the cause.

It took about ten minutes of prodding for a two-inch black blob to emerge, eyeless and bleak, from the depths. Together my roommate and I escorted the creature to the trashcan, and now it is gone and will never trouble us again... I hope.

So, how's your pre-Thanksgiving cleaning going?

Yay - mighty chopstick! So, does your sink drain again?

It does! It drains beautifully.

Our pre-Thanksgiving cleaning was actually done last week, in time for Saturday's birthday party. Only a little bit of clutter to putter before my parents showed up.

I'm impressed that you managed to keep the clutter down in the meantime. I'm not sure I would have.

Eww gross! Great story. I give you major credit for saving the drain from the creature. What you folks really need is a drain snake, but that's something only people who own tools seem to own. (Maybe now I know what to get you for a gift. Though it seems a bit *too* practical). Ten minutes- I am impressed you didn't give up. Good for you. Revel in your victory! And you folks might try to not get too much hair down there in the future- a preventative if you will. You guys are very thorough in your cleaning if you even clean inside the sink drain. :) I hope you had a good thanksgiving.

We've been too busy with deadlines to clutter it up!
