While hunting for an English translation of the lyrics to Manau's bizarrely awesome French Celtic rap La Tribu de Dana, I learned that the Breton musician Alan Stivell sued Manau for borrowing the chorus to his 1970s song "Tri Martolod".

You want links to nationalist Breton folk-rock, don't you? )

Enjoy!

A comment in today's [livejournal.com profile] metafandom links to a great post about perceived gender and the absence of biological sex for the robots of Wall-E. That post in turn links to a blog post by gender theorist Kate Bornstein. I highly recommend both the LJ post and the Kate Bornstein article that spawned it, even though I find myself imagining one commenter (who is outraged, just outraged, that "in an innocent children's movie, homosexuality has to be brought up") as Sam the Eagle.

EDIT:

I looked at that Sam the Eagle Youtube site just now. Then I looked at it again. Then I looked at the links from that page to Youtube pages belonging to Beaker, Gonzo, the Swedish Chef and Statler and Waldorf. Then I went googling to see if anyone could confirm my suspicions. Friends, I believe that the Muppet Show is alive, well and officially living on the Internet. I LOVE THIS CENTURY.
